About
Expanded Polymer Systems was founded as ‘Expanded Incorporation,’ in 1983, and our offices were then located at Nandkishore Industrial Estate on Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri. Currently, our production facilities are located in the Pawne Industrial Area, just 25 km from Mumbai city. We have a second, much larger production & bulk storage facility in Dahej (a port in Gujarat), 40 km from Bharuch, on the Mumbai-Delhi corridor.
We launched our industrial operations by blending the Polyols used in the rigid PU industry. Our facility was upgraded in 1991, with in-house technology for manufacturing both Polyester and Polyether based Polyols. This enabled us to offer a consistent quality of Polyol blends to the industry and we soon succeeded in becoming a preferred supplier to top-end industries like Refrigeration and General Insulation. This also enabled us to establish very strong brand equity in the Middle East market.
Based on our analysis of prevalent market trends, we further expanded in the late 90s, setting up manufacturing facilities for a wide range of specialty Polyester Polyols. This expansion opened up opportunities for participating in newer industry segments like: Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Footwear along with the specialty requirements in the PU Slabstock Industry.
Our present success can be attributed to our path-breaking Research & Development efforts. Our scientists have indigenously developed various types of polyols and formulations for diverse industry segments from refrigeration to packaging to shipbuilding. We at Expanded have also played a very significant role in the ‘CFC Phase Out’ programme.
Our chemicals’ business is well complimented with the marketing of Polyurethane Foam processing equipment from Cannon of Italy. As its sole distributor in India, Expanded has supplied the maximum number of PU Plants in the country. This venture has been augmented with Marketing Agencies for Polyurethane & Plastic processing machinery from world-renowned companies.
Expanded Polymer Systems is the first and only Polyurethane System House in India, having ultramodern in-house facilities using state-of-the-art technology for producing both polyether & polyester polyols, and the blended polyurethane systems. These production facilities are housed in three adjacent plants in Pawne, ensuring optimum proficiency in manufacturing and quality control. Innovation in both products and production technology is an ongoing process at Expanded.

Plant Features
- Polyether plant: This plant produces rigid polyether polyol and has the capacity to produce 7,250 MT/Annum.
- Polyester plant: This plant produces aromatic polyester polyols and aliphatic polyester polyols. It has the capacity to produce 300 MT/Annum of aliphatic polyester polyols and 3,000 MT/Annum of aromatic polyester polyols.
- Blended Polyol plant: This plant produces Polyol blends for rigid foams with a capacity to produce 19,000 MT/Annum.

Machinery Division
The Machinery Division deals with the design, erection and commissioning of storage facilities; supply, erection and commissioning of machines; and providing after sales service and spare parts for machines required by System Houses.

Plant Features
- Pilot Plant: This plant has a capacity of 1 MT/batch. The first scale-up of all products developed by the Research and Development division located at Navi Mumbai is done here to optimize quality, consistency and engineering.
- Line 1: This plant is dedicated to the manufacture of rigid polyether polyols, and has the capacity to produce 9000 MT/Annum.
- Line 2: This is the plant dedicated to the production of flexible polyether polyols of up to 6000 molecular weight, which includes HR, cell opener, and some PPG grades.
- Line 3: Design work for Line 3 has begun. The plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2012, and will produce 9000 MT/Annum Rigid polyether polyol.
- Storage facility: Has a storage facility to store and preserve 100 m3 of propylene oxide and 20 m3 of ethylene oxide with an additional approval and civil work of 100 m3 propylene oxide tank and 20 m3 ethylene oxide tank.
- Bulk storage facility: The company has put up a 3000 KL storage tank at GCPTCL with a 4 km pipeline from the jetty to the storage tank to unload the ship.
